FORMIT - Forming and Modular Integration of Thermoplastics
H2020-CS2-CFP03-2016-01: 738044
The main objective of FORMIT is to develop a modular tooling to integrate a wing upper skin and an external wing leading edge with several T-Shape and omega stringers.
Skins will be laminated on the integration tool by Topic Manager with Automated Fiber Placement technology. Stringers will be produced with an innovative continuous forming process patented by Applus+.
Both structures will be made of carbon fiber embedded in a PEEK thermoplastic matrix. The conjunction of these two manufacturing technologies and thermoplastic composite enables an out-of-autoclave production process and curing of final structure with low cost and high production rates.

The project is led by Applus+ Laboratories Division, with SERTEC as partner for the modular integration tool.
This project has received funding from the Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 738044.
